WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO PROVIDE MEDIATION SERVICES IN OUR COMMUNITY?

Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Board Members Respond

Board Member

People need alternatives.  Our entire community benefits when people can safely express themselves, be heard, and work through challenges to solutions that are often better than what they could have come up with on their own.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Supporting Dispute Resolution in Your Community

WHO?

Who are we?  Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center (WVDRC) is a nonprofit community mediation center founded in 2006 through Washington state RCW 7.75.  We are supported by a Board of Directors; staffed by a full-time Executive Director and a part-time Customer Care Coordinator; and served by a team of volunteer mediators and advocates from diverse professions and experiences.
WVDRC is a member of Resolution Washington: a network of 21 nonprofit Dispute Resolution Centers across the state committed to providing cost-effective conflict resolution services and expertise that empowers communities to work together resolving conflict and finding solutions.
Who do we serve?  WVDRC serves the residents of Chelan and Douglas counties.  Scheduled mediation session fees are determined based on family size and income.  Small Claims mediations are offered at District Court in both Chelan and Douglas counties.

WHAT?

What services do we provide?  WVDRC provides cost effective and efficient mediation, mediation training, and community education.
Mediation can be used to resolve many types of conflict from workplace to family and everything in between.  Mediation Training provides volunteer mediator training and personal/professional development.  Community Education offers participants opportunities to learn communication and problem solving skills.

WHY?

Why support us?  Access to positive solutions for resolving conflicts is important in each and every community.  A local dispute resolution center is uniquely situated to offer low-cost mediation and community education for the benefit of residents.
Mediation has a long history of providing an alternative to violence and litigation by empowering and guiding participants to reach doable and durable solutions to problems.  The practice of mediation is rooted in active listening, positive negotiation, and effective communication skills.  These skills are not only important to clients struggling with a conflict but also community members learning, practicing, and improving in professional and personal endeavors.
Sustaining WVDRC operations in our two North Central Washington counties provides easy access to our mission of changing relationships through peaceful conflict resolution.  State and local support for the operation of our local dispute resolution center is essential for our stability and longevity.
Your support of WVDRC offers people options for access to justice and constructive conflict resolution which benefits our collective community.  Partnership and collaboration offer a win-win supportive system network to meet community needs in a timely and efficient manner.

HOW?

How can I support WVDRC?  We are so happy you’re interested in getting involved with our work here at WVDRC. There are so many ways for you to help, and we truly appreciate each and every effort.
